Bishop's Gate Hotel

Londonderry, Northern Ireland
The Bishops Gate Hotel has been named the 2nd best hotel in the UK according to the TripAdvisor awards! Stronghold are proud to have been involved in the Basement Waterproofing and Timber Preservation during the extensive restoration of the hotel which dates back to the 1800’s.

Further Information

Timber Preservation

The building had been unoccupied for a number of years, and was effected by dry rot and dampness and woodworm. Due to the damp in the building, some of the large timber beams were found to have wet rot at the bearing ends. All wall plates and rafter ends were treated with a preservative to help protect the timbers from further wood rot problems.

Basement Waterproofing

The existing stone construction basement did not have a basement waterproofing system in place.  A cavity drain basement waterproofing membrane system was designed and installed by Stronghold for this building.  A sump and pump system was also installed.
