Dry Rot Treatment, Belfast

This 2.5 storey red brick house was showing signs of a dry rot infestation: affecting the skirting boards, hard wood flooring, door frame and kitchen units. As dry rot needs moisture to survive, Stronghold Preservation had to identify the cause of the damp, the extent of the dry rot, and treat them both.

Rising Damp Treatment

The ground floor walls were all damp at low level, indicating rising damp: it was therefore recommended to install a chemical damp proof course to the ground floor.

Dry Rot Treatment

All wood infected with dry rot was removed and disposed.   As dry rot can grow and travel along masonry, it was necessary to strip back the plaster and apply a biocide to try and prevent any further outbreaks.
