Newlath Damp Proofing Membrane

001 Newlath membrane penetrating damp proofing dpc rising damp co tyrone arch belfast dublin northern ireland NIThe Newlath Damp Proofing Membrane system is used where large areas of walls have become damp due to penetrating damp (often due to water transfer through solid stone walls with defective pointing), or occasionally as a rising damp solution.

The Newton Newlath damp proof membrane is mechanically fixed using Newtons mesh plugs, which are then sealed to prevent damp penetrating.  The wall finish (plaster- lime or cement based- or dot and dab plasterboard) is then applied to the damp proof membrane.  The dimpled membrane prevents water penetration and creates a positive internal air pressure 'pushing' the vapour suspended within the air gap through the external wall and out of the property.

This system can be used on any substrate - even poor ones, and can be cut and moulded to fit any space.  It can also overcome 'cold face', helping to improve insulation in the building.

The Newlath damp proof membrane, if punctured, can be re-sealed to prevent any damp or water penetrating.

Where the problem is rising damp, it is generally only necessary to install the Newton Newlath damp proof membrane to 1 metre high, or as specified by our surveyors.

Key Benefits of the Newlath Damp Proofing Membrane System002 Newlath membrane penetrating damp proofing dpc rising damp co tyrone arch belfast dublin northern ireland NI

The system provides a totally separate surface from the affected wall, eradicating all internal and associated damp problems. It is:

  • Thin and lightweight, so suitable for almost all applications and wall types; especially where space is at a premium
  • Improves thermal performance of the building;
  • Can be punctured with wall fixings;
  • Does not interfere with the existing building fabric;
  • The system is completely reversible; which may be important in heritage structures;
  • Suitable for curved and arched structures - commonly found in churches and heritage buildings;
  • Guaranteed to provide a finish free from damp.
